Fall Adult Small Groups
FALL 2009
Small Groups meet September 20th-November 22nd
Sundays at 9:30 AM
Men’s Bible Study led by Fr. Jeff Murph. This topical Bible Study will examine subjects like: becoming whole in our spiritual life, physical life, vocation, emotional, relational and volitional life; and pain and suffering (how can terrible things happen if God is supposed to be good and loving?). The class will consider these topics by looking at different passages from the Bible. There will be a short introductory teaching on each passage, followed by discussion.
“ You and Me God” - for Ladies led by Darrell Powell. We will explore our personal relationship with God through readings, discussions, personal reflection, music and creative expression. Each week will consist of a stand-alone topic as follows:People Who Inspire • Pleasing God • Praying Continually • Being Present with God • Listening To and For God • Obeying God • Loving God • Doing God’s Work in Everyday Life • Resting in God • Living in God. Will meet in the Guild Room.
During the Week:
Shop Talk for Men meets on 2nd and 4th Tuesdays in the Guild Room at noon. Bring a bag lunch and enjoy the conversation.
Women’s Bible Study led by Karleen Shepard meets at 9:00 AM on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at the home of Dory Dietz, 10 Denny Estates in Harmarville.
Cooking Class—led by Julie Bucci will be a 5 week class—Classes will meet on Tuesdays, beginning in October
Choir begins Autumn Rehearsals
Louise Lugar, our Organist/Choirmaster, announces choir rehearsals on September 19th, 17th, and 24th, beginning at 7:00pm. Anyone high school aged or above is welcome to come "make a joyful unto the Lord!" If these rehearsal dates won't fit into your schedule please give Louise a call anyhow. All are welcome!
From Sunday, April 6, through June 8th, a number of new classes and groups will meet during a ten-week segment: On Sundays (9:30- 10:15am)
- Praying the Psalms (a women's group study) led by Shahnaz Alam-Denlinger. This women's group will study nine psalms, which offer courage, celebration and "raw" honesty. These psalms celebrate God's love and our need for that love at all times.
- Focus on the Family led by Karleen Shepard. This group uses a video presentation, followed by a discussion. Some examples include: "Innocent Blood"--Megiddo and Armageddon, "Who is God"--Mt. Carmel and Elisha.
- A Way into Hebrews: The More Gracious Blood led by the rector. Hebrews is one of the most complex books of the New Testament and yet it makes explicit connection between the Old and New Covenants. This group will examine what this means for Christians today.
- Acts 29 led by Allie Overly. This is a "tour guide" through the gospels and Acts on some basics. This group also meets on Saturday mornings at 10am.

During the week:
- Shop Talk for Men: Led by Bill Hetrick, oOn the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at noon. This is an informal gathering of men with no agenda but with free ranging discussion and fellowship.
- Having a Mary Spirit led by Grace Miller and Joanne Hetrick. This is a sequel to "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World" by Joanna Weaver. The group focuses on letting God change us from the inside out. It meets on Thursday evenings from 6pm to 7pm.
- St. Thomas Choir led by Dan Miller. This group meets to glorify God with music, to help the congregation on their spiritual journey by leading worship and singing and to enjoy good fellowship and prayer support with one anther. This group meets on Thursday evenings at 7pm.
